After Their First Day

More than Me regularly checks up on its scholarship recipients. In addition to receiving report cards and updates from teachers and principals, we also have our Liberian staff check on the children. We are proud to report that two of our students, Esther and Isaac, are class presidents. Many of the children seem to be adjusting quite well to going to school for the first time.

I was sent an evaluation report for several of our scholarship recipients a few weeks ago. One of our Liberian volunteers wrote it and the way it is written, as well as the actual evaluations, says a lot. I have gone back and forth about whether or not to edit it, omit or correct parts, or leave it as it was received. Below, you will find the complete report. I decided not to edit the content, but I did fix some typographical errors and only when the content was left unaffected. I have also removed the last names of all of the children in the report for privacy reasons.

Not all of the evaluations are pleasant, but they do give a little window into what the world is like for these children. If anything, I think, they seem like school kids everywhere. Let us know what you think about the evaluations, whether it is better to edit or not, and any questions you have.

John Kofi Ansah School

Jartu (K-1) is regular in school. she alway cries in class when she is ask to write.
she also cries for her pencil. she is trying to cope with the lesson.

HENRITTA (K-2) is doing .she participate in her class lesson.

SATTA (G-2) is regular in school. she some times goes to school dirty.

LOVETTA (G-2) IS ALWAYS REGULAR AND DOING FINE WITH HER LESSON

GRACE (G-3) is not misbehaving again her performance is good.she regular in school and participate in her class activities.

MAI (G,-4)is always in school. she was very sick last week. the parent wrote letter to excuse her from school for a week.

ANTOINETTE (G-5)is regular in school.she is doing well in her lesson.

Mary Sharp Memorial Mission School

MORRISLINE (ABC)is regular in school. she performing well. she participate in class. her hand writing is improving.

mustapha (ABC) is regular in school and participate in class activities. some time he does not bring books and pencil to school.

PRINCESS (ABC) is doing well with her lesson.she is always in school.

SIAH (ABC) was absent from school for two weeks because of some illness
she improving in her health. she is always on time. she participate in her lesson.

AGNES (ABC) is coping with the lesson. she aprticipate in class and regular in
school.

MARIE (K-1) REGULAR IN SCHOOL AND PICKING UP WITH THE HAND WRITING .
SHE HAS A VERY GOOD BEHAVIOR.WHEN ASK A QUESTION SHE RESPOND VERY WELL.

COMFORT (K-2) is doing good.she is regular in class.she participate by asking and answering question.

JESSICA (G-1) Did well in the first period test. she is regular in school but playing when the teacher is teaching.

ESTHER (G-1) WAS THE FIRSTDUX IN HER CLASS FOR THE FIRST MARKING PERIOD.SHE DOING EXTREMELY WELL IN SCHOOL.SHE HAS A VERY GOOD BEHAVIOR.

BEATRICE (G-2) IS SLOW IN PICKING UP THE LESSON. SHE REGULAR IN CLASS.

GRACE (G-2) IS SMART IN PICKING UP HER LESSON .SHE VERY REGULAR
IN CLASS AND HAVE THE HIGHEST AVERAGE IN THE FIRST MARKING PERIOD .

PATIENCE (G-3) PERFORMS WELL IN CLASS AND HAS A GOOD BEHAVIOR. SHE COPING WELL WITH HER LESSON.

REGINA (G-5) Regular and on time in class. She participate well. Because of her smartness she has been elected as the president for the class.

St. Peter Lutheran School

ELIZABETH (G-1) WAS ABSENT FROM SCHOOLFOR ONE WEEEK
SHE LIE TO HER MOTHER THAT THERE WAS NO SCHOOL. SHE WAS ABSENT FOR TWO DAYS ALSO IN THIS WEEK. SHE IS NOT DOING DOING WELL IN THE LESSON BUT WRITE WELL.SHE PLAYS WHEN THE TEACHING.SHE STAY WITH UNCLE MOST OFTEN AND HER UNCLE DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO TRANSPORT HER TO SCHOOL.

PRINCE (G-5) PARTICIPATE IN CLASS BUT HAS A POOR BEHAVIOR .HE IS REGULAR IN CLASS AND PERFORMS WELL IN HIS LESSON.

Philip Preparatory School

ISAAC (G3) HAS A VERY GOOD BEHAVIOR. HE PAY ATTENTION TO HIS LESSON AND STUDY VERY HARD.HIS AVERAGE WAS VERY HIGH FOR THE FIRST PERIOD. HE IS ACTING AS THE CLASS PRESSIDENT.

JAMES (G-3) HAS A BAD BEHAVIOR AND DID NOT DO WELL FOR THE FIRST
PERIOD HE HAD 71% AVERAGE. HE HAS AN EYE PROBLEM.HE WAS NOT IN SCHOOL FOR DAYS WITH NO REASON.

RITA (G-5) REGULAR IN SCHOOL. HER AVERAGE WAS 70% FOR THE FIRST
PERIOD SHE NEED MORE ENCOURAGEMENT.SHE NOT REALLY DOING WELL IN THIS SECOND PERIOD.SHE MISSES SCHOOL A LOT SINCE THE SECOND PERIOD BEGAN.

NACY (G-5) IS REGULAR IN SCHOOL. HER AVERAGE FOR THE FIRST PERIOD WAS 73% SHE NEED TO IMPROVE AND ATTENTION.
